Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal at AURA is a modern treatment for men who value a clean look, comfort, and precise results without pain. Forget about daily shaving and irritation. The European laser system removes hair accurately and safely, keeping your skin smooth for a long time. A comfortable procedure even for sensitive areas.

We use the new 2024 ST808 diode laser. This laser removes hair absolutely painlessly thanks to the American thermo-electric cooling system (TEC). The system instantly lowers skin temperature, operates silently, and is completely safe. It can also be used on tanned skin and combined with sun exposure when following our aftercare recommendations.

Before your appointment, or on the day of the procedure, carefully shave the treatment area against the direction of hair growth using a razor, or use a depilatory cream.
No visible hair should remain on the skin otherwise, the laser beam will scatter, making the procedure less effective.
If you didn’t have time to prepare, you can use our shaving service at the salon.

FAQ

A diode laser works at a wavelength that precisely targets melanin in the hair without damaging the surrounding skin.
It penetrates deeper into the follicle, effectively capturing even coarse and dark hairs while remaining gentle on the skin.
This means softer sensations, a lower risk of irritation, and more stable, predictable results.

Most people compare the sensation to light tingling or warm snaps.
In more sensitive areas, discomfort may be slightly stronger, but it is brief and generally well tolerated.
Modern built-in cooling makes the procedure as comfortable as possible — many clients say they expected it to be more painful.

A full course typically consists of 7–9 sessions, though the number may vary depending on individual factors.
The first improvements can be seen after 1–2 sessions: hair growth slows down, hairs become finer and fewer.
Laser energy affects only those hairs that are in the active growth phase — about 30 percent of the total. The rest are dormant and cannot be affected until they enter the growth phase.
Completing the entire course ensures that all hairs can be treated effectively.
The result accumulates gradually and becomes most visible by the end of the course.

We cannot predict exactly when dormant follicles will become active, so maintaining a consistent interval of 3–4 weeks is important.
Over time these intervals may naturally lengthen — this is normal and indicates that hair growth is slowing.

We have prepared a detailed pre-care guide to help make your visit as comfortable and effective as possible.
You can find it here (link to laser pre/post-care page).

Yes, certain conditions and medications need to be considered.
All contraindications and drug interactions are listed in detail in our guide on a separate page — you can check it anytime for quick reference (link).

Sun exposure does not prevent you from having diode laser hair removal, as the laser targets the hair follicle rather than the skin surface.
However, it’s important to avoid intense sun and tanning beds:

  • After a full day in strong sun, the skin needs 3–5 days to recover. Laser should not be done on a fresh tan or sunburn.
    • If your skin darkened after sun exposure, sensitivity increases, so the specialist will adjust the settings accordingly.
    • After a laser session, wait 3–5 days before sunbathing again, and apply SPF on treated areas.
If your skin is very sensitive, extend this interval to 7 days.

When these recommendations are followed, the procedure remains safe year-round.

Mild redness, slight swelling around follicles, or tiny “bumps” are normal responses to heat.
These effects usually disappear within a few hours or by the end of the day.
You can apply a soothing cream with panthenol or aloe to speed up recovery.

If there are moles or small tattoos in the treatment area, we cover them with a special paste or tape to block laser contact with pigment.
However, if the area is heavily covered in tattoos, laser hair removal cannot be performed there, as the dense pigment may heat up and cause burns.
Acne is not a contraindication unless there are active open lesions. With correct settings, the procedure remains safe even for sensitive skin.

Laser works best on dark, pigmented hair because it contains more melanin, which absorbs the laser energy.
Very light, vellus (peach-fuzz), or grey hairs contain little to no pigment, so results may be minimal or absent.
We always assess the hair structure beforehand to give an honest and realistic prognosis.

Modern diode lasers are safe for darker and tanned skin thanks to controlled wavelength and built-in cooling.
However, very dark skin (Fitzpatrick type V–VI) absorbs more energy, increasing the risk of overheating.
In these cases, we assess the skin tone carefully: sometimes we can work with gentler settings, and sometimes we recommend avoiding the procedure if it may be unsafe or ineffective.
We always inform you honestly in advance to ensure the safest care option.

Some hair growth after the first sessions is normal — it’s a natural protective response as the body tries to restore affected hairs.
A small amount of growth between sessions is expected: hairs shed gradually over 1–3 weeks, not instantly.
If several sessions in, the growth is still active, it may be related to hormonal factors, natural hair density, or individual cycles.
In such cases, we adjust the settings or session intervals and create an optimal plan to improve results.

Laser hair removal is generally safe during menstruation, but there are a few things to consider:

  • Increased sensitivity: You may feel more discomfort. If you have a low pain tolerance, consider rescheduling or taking a mild pain reliever 30 minutes before the session (except ibuprofen or aspirin).
Hygiene: For bikini or intimate areas, use a tampon or menstrual cup during the procedure.
